Local Tax Preparers Can Hear Peers Explain e-file Benefits

Tax preparers can learn from their colleagues the value of electronically filing tax returns during a free IRS-sponsored Webinar on Oct. 27, 2009. A panel of local practitioners, CPAs and Enrolled Agents will discuss how to increase efficiency and reduce expenses through e-filing.

A Certificate of Attendance will be available for The Business Case for e-file: A Panel Discussion with Tax Professionals. Preparers must register before Oct. 26, noon Eastern, in order to participate. To register, go to the Internal Revenue Service Webinar.

This interactive, online program will feature a panel of Illinois tax professionals who currently participate in the IRS e-file program. Vicki McGuar, EA; Mark Roessler, CPA and Paul Gill, Tax Preparer will discuss:
  • How they started participating in the IRS e-file program.
  • How e-filing has helped them become more efficient and productive.
  • How e-filing has reduced their expenses.
  • How offering e-file has helped them increase their business overall.
There will be time for questions after the presentations. Tax preparers can listen to actual experiences from their Illinois colleagues.

The IRS is hosting the webinar after hearing from tax practitioners themselves. The IRS learned that those preparers who were reluctant to use electronic filing as their main filing option wanted to hear from their peers as to why it makes business sense.

Tax professionals have been at the heart of the success of electronic filing. Last year, 89.8 million tax returns, nearly 58 percent of all returns, were filed electronically. Tax professionals filed 70 percent of those e-filed returns.

The Webinars will be on Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. Eastern; 2 p.m. Central.

A video of the Webinar will be available on IRS.gov.
